About
I’m Karen. I live in Seattle with my talented husband John and Daisy the dog.
In 2007 I discovered I had allergies to gluten, dairy and eggs. As someone with a passion for good food, my first reaction was dismay – this list would prevent me from eating far too many of my favorite things. Struggling through the first few months, eating began to seem like a problem rather than a pleasure. But then as I started to adjust my palate and my habits, and to enjoy how much better I felt with these ingredients off my plate, a surprising thing happened. I fell back in love with food.
Much of the credit for this changes goes to the community of food bloggers, gluten-free and otherwise, who I turned to for information, ideas and inspiration. The generosity and creativity I found there inspired me to try new things, create my own recipes, and now to share my own experiences on this blog.
I never would have expected that a set of dietary restrictions could actually open up my world, but it has. Apparently I’m highly motivated by challenges, because this one has lead me to find new ways to cook, bake, explore, talk about, play with and eat delicious food. I’m having fun and enjoying the adventure. Grab a plate and join me.
